Startup Weekend is a registered not-for-profit organization basedin Seattle, Washington, USA, that organizes 54-hour weekend events during which groups ofdevelopers, business managers, startup enthusiasts, marketing gurus, graphic artists and morepitch ideas for new startup companies, form teams around those ideas, and work to develop aworking prototype, demo, or presentation by Sunday evening.Startup Weekend has grown into an organization with a global presence. As of April2013, 1068 events had been held, involving over 100,000 entrepreneursacross more than 400cities in over 100 countriesand over 8190 startups have been created.Issues to be tackled :In handling events like startup Weekend which a global event, there are set of issuesthat have to be handled. Some of them are Ticketing, registration, online promotions andhandle the last minute entries.Startup weekend is always laid trust in Explara’s (Ayojak then) services that has onestop solutions to all these issues.Our Preparations:Being solution providers, we started our plan of action once startup weekend put uptheir requirements and issues on our table.We geared up to make startup weekend asuccessful event.Online Registration Page:We Started with creating a branded online registration page on our ayojak platform.Theme of the registration pages was matched with startup weekend to make it easy forcustomers to bridge the gap.We also provided them with user friendly sub-domain(http://Sartupweekend.ayojak.com/).Payment Processing Service:
  • 4. To ease the payment process we provided them with a 360* payment solution. Thisincluded credit/debit card and Net banking with processing gateways. We also provided withCash-on-Delivery facility and on the spot registrations.Online Promotions:We keep our audience updated about the upcoming events and festivals through socialmedia campaigns. We updated our audience thru Facebook, Twitter and also thru emailcampaign.Entry Management at venue:People who bought tickets online had to be verified for right entries and hand them thepasses that was required for the two day program. We were ready at the venue to manageattendees with correct authentication.The Successful day:Being a global event, startup weekend got great response from Indian ecosystem. TheTicketing went on smooth and picked pace very soon. With right promotion, the event gotgreat response and went on to be a great success.We had numerable last minute entries, queries about the event venue, judges andguests for the event.Event made a remarkable success and gave a platform to start-ups, new ideas and wonthe heart of designers, developers and entrepreneur community.
