Remove the fear, uncertainty and doubt that some SMBs have related to the value of UCC! It’s not just for large enterprises any more.
Some SMBs still haven’t figured out how their users can truly benefit from UCC. If they are familiar with the benefits, the perception is “it’s only for large enterprises”. And, there is probably an element of fear i.e., that UCC is too much effort and too expensive to implement.
Our Advanced UCC for Free promotion, combined with related demand generation materials and sales enablement resources, will enable you to promote and clearly communicate the benefits of UCC to your customers and prospects. And, to encourage them to take advantage of the benefits of UCC now. . .we’ve included an incentive enabling you to offer them Advanced UCC features for free!
This offer will provide mobility, drag n' drop conferencing and fax end user licenses at no charge for customers migrating to OpenScape Office MX/LX.

  • Today we’re witnessing a paradigm shift in social and technology trends that are going to have a huge impact on your business communications landscape. We’re calling this the Communications Tipping Point, and it’s going to redefine longstanding views of total cost of ownership, how we deploy our and consume our communications services and indeed how we engage with colleagues, customers and stakeholders. And it’s going to usher in a new era of cloud communications. At Siemens we see this Tipping Point as having huge opportunities for organizations to streamline costs and improve communications across the board. But it also highlights the organizations need to change it’s communications at a very fundamental level (an architectural level) to fully realize the opportunities presented by the Communications Tipping Point. The good news is that with a move to an open architecture and open communications environment, change doesn’t have to be painful, expensive or mean a rip and replace of existing systems. The next few slides will explain what is driving the Communications Tipping Point and what impact it is having on small and medium sized businesses. We will also show you how you can secure the benefits from this changes in your business – now – through the Trade-up to Advanced UCC promotion.
  • We have structured this presentation to explain the issues causing the Tipping Point, how they impact your business, and how the Trade-up to Advanced UCC promotion can help.
  • Some tough questions we will refer to as we explore these trends further: 1. The Communications Tipping Point could be reducing your total cost of ownership, so is doing nothing costing you money? 2. The Communications Tipping Point could be enhancing relationships, improving collaboration & helping you make faster decisions, but is your communications system helping you compete? 3. The Communications Tipping Point allows you to build a fully flexible, open and future-proofed architecture, so it is time to move beyond the PBX? 4. The Communications Tipping Point offers you the deployment model that best aligns to your business, so is the cloud right for you?
  • Advances in consumer technology, from devices through to the way we interact with those devices, and a fundamental shift in how employees are communicating and interacting with one another in their personal lives through social media, is beginning to have a profound impact on business communications. We’re seeing powerful trends building up pressure from users commonly understood as the consumerization of IT: Seamless mobility: the demand for anywhere access to information and communications services – whether from the home office, car or airport Next generation user experience: with employees asking why their corporate devices and applications aren’t as easy to use or access as the ones they have on their consumer smartphones Social collaboration: employees want to communicate and engage more collaboratively over social networks (whether that’s through IM chat, web collaboration or increasingly video), but more importantly, so do customers And then there’s the corresponding demands from the CIO and IT director: Pressures are building from the CEO and board to create a cloud strategy, defining how IT can take advantage of an increasing number of deployment options to reduce costs, increase operational efficiency and deliver back a deployment solution that best suits the business As part of this strategy, how will they deal with new security and reliability issues as they look to move their services and applications (and data) into the cloud So we see these megatrends growing, and colliding to create a point of action – what we class as the Communications Tipping Point If the enterprise network is more than seven years old the chances are it’s fully depreciated, is likely to be quite reliable and is perhaps doing a reasonable job of supporting the workforce with basic voice and voice mail. But the problem for the IT director is that in today’s world it can’t offer the levels of mobility and flexibility that its users and customers expect. It’s unlikely to be able to deliver increased productivity through enhanced collaboration, eliminate communications-lags through presence technologies or communication enabled business processes, or indeed address the issues of high-cost audio and web conferencing delivered by service providers. And with customer responsiveness key to business success, it is likely to be failing here too. Doing nothing is not an option. The reality is that legacy networks are costing small and medium sized enterprises money every day; in maintenance and upgrade costs, in unnecessary call charges, in below-industry standard levels of collaboration and communication, and significantly, in the increased risk of productivity robbing system failure. According to McKinsey Quarterly,: “A new class of company is emerging—one that uses collaborative technologies intensively to connect employees and extend the organization’s reach to customers, partners, and suppliers. These fully networked enterprises are not only more likely to be market leaders but also use management practices that lead to higher margins.” So how do you create the communications platform for competitiveness? Does it allow the delivery of advanced unified communications and collaboration? For that, you need to look to your architecture and ask - i s it time to move beyond the PBX? This question could as easily be ‘is it time to move to an open architecture?’ By continuing to support legacy PBX systems, and by definition, outdated architectures, businesses are unable to leverage the benefits of a truly unified and collaborative communications environment. And that is costing money and competitive advantage. Moving to an open architecture, and establishing a cost saving IP-based enterprise voice platform does not require a rip and replace. It is a phased process, to suit the timescales and budget of the individual business. OpenScape Office from Siemens Enterprise Communications has been designed for small and medium sized businesses. It is an award winning solution that enables businesses to respond to the Tipping Point challenges and enables the firm to compete for less cost. Let’s look a little closer at how OpenScape Office supports small and medium sized businesses in these challenging times…(go to next slide)
  • The communications Tipping Point is driving some very practical challenges for SMBs [slide note: go through all to highlight problems and set up next Siemens Enterprise Solutions slide]
  • So what does moving to unified communications bring? We already know that 77% of firms have adopted, or will be adopting, UC in the next 12 months (breakdown below). And they’re doing so because of UCCs ability to address the challenges we’ve just discussed.. [Go through the ‘solutions’…] [Key stat: firms already adopting Unified Communications: US - 54%, Germany - 36%, South America - 25%, UK - 16%]
  • OpenScape Office has been designed for small and medium sized businesses. It is an award winning solution that enables businesses to respond to the Tipping Point challenges and enable the firm to compete for less cost. [run through slides boxes from left to right]
  • [Discuss business benefits, and functions of ‘All in One’ solution…Additional supporting product slides for each section in ‘Is your communications strategy delivering competitive advantage?’ deck] ……………………………………………………………………………… .. With OpenScape Office we can assure reduced costs, integration and interoperability…because we are the only vendor able to offer a totally open, software-based architecture…. More information from Statement of Direction below: [Slide note: from statement of direction] In answer to the challenges and to help you realize the opportunities of the Communications Tipping Point, Siemens Enterprise Communications has developed a truly open architecture. This allows enterprises to employ whichever architectural components fit their requirements. And it’s only possible because we have designed it all from the ground up to operate on standardized components running industry standard operating systems. Down to the core of its unified communications infrastructure, Siemens Enterprise Communications continues this commitment to being “open.” Our OpenScape product and service families are designed and built on a next-generation software foundation using the industry-standard SIP signalling protocol, from application processing to endpoint devices. Applications make use of the similarly dominant Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) and web services to communicate with enterprise applications. This focus on open industry standards helps enterprises realize ROI sooner and reduce CapEx and OpEx outlay by leveraging their existing investment in infrastructure and applications. In doing so it allows companies to be based virtually anywhere, users to access any device from anywhere, and virtual enterprises to scale up or down with ease and control. Integrated wireless and wired networks merge seamlessly with cellular networks. Users move between devices and applications with ease, their communication capabilities and profiles following them from the cloud. Applications are selected by the user and easily downloaded. Communications are embedded into business processes. The business stays in motion and the cloud remains ever-present. And because we are open, we can deliver deployment flexibility to suite your business. [Slide note: first time introduction into portfolio…] We have OpenScape Office for up to 150 users with enhanced V3 features, the LX up to 500 users which is the new SW only deployment model and the HX supporting our installed base of 3000 customers (offering them an affordable migration path to UC) Below is an overview of the various clients we can provide. myPortal for Desktop – all UC functions on your desktop at your fingertips. myPortal for Outlook, - all UC functions integrated into MS Outlook (2003, 2007 and 2010). Softclient – OpenScape Person Edition running on your PC or laptop. Mobile Clients – new myPortal for Mobile UC client for web-enabled smartphones (iPhone, Android, Blackberry). OpenStage phones – including myPortal for Openstage, which is an UC XML service running on model 60/80.
  • It is clear that the pressures arising from Tipping Point issues can be managed by moving away from legacy PBX communications technology to OpenScape Office and advanced unified communications and collaboration capabilities. Siemens Enterprise Communications have now made the business case for this even more compelling with the launch of the Trade-up to Advanced UCC promotion. When customers buy a new OpenScape Office MX or LX they will get a market leading UV Voice solution supporting up to 500 users with traditional and SIP trunking. With the promotion they will also get the Advanced UCC features of:- -Mobility -Drag n’ drop conferencing -Enhanced Fax … incorporated within the Standard licence price. So, instead of paying €125 per user license, customers will pay just €90 per licence – effectively getting the Advanced UCC features for free.
  • In order to find out precisely how moving to OpenScape Office and Advanced UCC will benefit your business, ask your Siemens Enterprise Communications Partner to work with you in developing a business case that reflects your specific business circumstances. The first step is to understand the current cost of operating your existing legacy PBX system – including provisions for service, maintenance, break-fix contingencies and future upgrades. Then compare this to the cost of running a new OpenScape Office solution. The difference between the two values will help you to calculate a return on investment. Then overlay the business benefits from Advanced UCC to arrive at the new Total Cost of Ownership figure for your business. Your Siemens Enterprise Communications Partner can help you here too. [Refer to slide content to outline an easy three step buying approach]
  • We want to provide you with all the information you need to make an informed decision about moving away from your legacy PBX system to a new OpenScape Office solution with advanced unified communications and collaboration capability. Your Siemens Enterprise Communications Partner will help to answer all the questions relevant to your specific business situation and can help you build the corresponding business case. However, to benefit from the free Advanced UCC promotional offer, all licenses must be activated before the 30 th June 2012. After this time, license charges will revert back to normal.
