    • Gravity - the force that every object exerts on another object.
    • Ex: When you fall and hit the ground…you go “Boom.”

    • The amount of gravity between objects depends on 2 things.
    • Mass of the objects
    • Distance between the objects.

    • Weight - the measure of the force of gravity on an object.
    • -More mass = more weight
    • Weight is measured in 1.Newtons (N)…Metric system
    • 2.Pounds (lbs)…English system
  • 5.
    • To calculate weight in lbs.
    • __lbs. X force of gravity = __lbs.
    • Ex: How much would a 100 lb. person weight on Jupiter which force of gravity is 2.64?
    • 100lbs. X 2.64 = 264 lbs.

    • To calculate weight in Newtons
    • ___kg X force of gravity = ___N
    • Ex: How much would a 100 kg person weigh in Newtons on the moon which has a force of gravity of 1.6 N/kg?
    • 100kg X 1.6 N/kg = 160 N
  • 7.
    • To calculate weight in Newtons when your starting weight is lbs.
    • ___lbs / 2.2 = _____kg
    • ___kg X force of gravity = ___N
  • 8.
    • Ex: How much would a 100 lb. person weigh in Newtons on Earth which has a force of gravity of 9.8 N/kg?
    • 100lbs. / 2.2 = 45 kg
    • 45 kg X 9.8 N/kg = 441 N
