  2. 2. <ul><li>Newton’s 3 rd law of motion- to every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. </li></ul><ul><li>Ex: Trampoline. When a person jumps downward on a trampoline, the trampoline exerts an equal and opposite force upward. </li></ul>
  3. 3. <ul><li>What causes rockets to go into space? </li></ul><ul><li>The escaping gases from the rocket is the reaction while the rocket accelerates </li></ul>
  4. 4. <ul><li>Momentum - a property a moving object has because of its mass and velocity. </li></ul><ul><li>Ex: Speeding bullet has large momentum because of its high velocity. </li></ul><ul><li>Ex: Elephant has large momentum because of its large mass. </li></ul>
  5. 5. <ul><li>Law of conservation of momentum- the total amount of momentum does not change unless outside forces act on the object. </li></ul>
