  • Infant Storytime Early literacy story program for newborns up to 24 months, plus their caregivers. Lively time of sharing books, songs, puppets and nursery rhymes.
  • Toddler & Pre-K Family literacy program for children ages 18 months to 5 years old, plus their adult caregiver. Includes picture books, nursery rhymes, fingerplays and action – participation fun!
  • Pre-K & Kindergarten Outreach Every Wednesday we visit 2-3 classrooms to bring storytime, books, puppets, music and early literacy activities as a library outreach service.

  • Crafts and Extensions Crafts are an excellent way to extend a storytelling program. I have offered craft activities for for a wide range of audiences, from Pre-K to Tweens.
  • Music  Guitar  Banjo  Washboard  Interactive Rhythm Instruments  Djembe  Harmonium  Vocals I like to work music into many of my library performances, from infant storytimes all the way up to storytelling and school outreach visits. Instruments range from simple hand held shakers to acoustic guitar.

  • Derry Fairy and Elf Festival Each May we hold an all day festival with music, dance, crafts and fairy house building.
  • One Spooky Night Every October our children’s area transforms for an evening of seasonal tales, shadow puppet shows and Trick-Or- Treating throughout the library for non- food prizes.

  • Reading Incentive Programs I like to encourage children in the community to read all year long by creating unique miniature seasonal and genre based reading programs.
  • Staff Development  I am a big supporter of staff development and have sat on committees at both the school and the library, offering training in read alouds, storytelling, technology, problem resolution and stress management.  I have also created and led staff activities such as our annual Ghost Story Cookout and the Employee Summer Reader Club.
