  • 2. Information of Malta
    • Malta is a small island nation located approximately 58 miles (93 km) south of Sicily in the Mediterranean Sea. Its areal is counted to 316 km2. The inhabitants of Malta are counted to 400 000 among its three biggest islands. Since May the first Malta has been a member of the European Union .
  • 3. Capital
    • The capital of Malta is Valletta.
  • 4. Geography:
    • The country Malta consists of six islands and is situated in the Mediterranean, 90 km below the coast of Sicily. The islands have different names, but the main island is called Malta. Only three of the six islands are inhabited, Gozo, Comino and then of course Malta.
    • The total area of Malta is 316 km2.
    • Malta has got a lot of hills, but neither mountains nor rivers. The coast is very rocky with harbours and sandy beaches.
  • 5. Climate:
    • Malta’s climate is typical Mediterranean. The summers are dry and hot and the winters cool with adequate rainfall.
    • The temperature in the winter hardly ever goes down below 10  during daytime. The summer temperature can go as far up as 35  and more.
  • 6. Language:
    • The official languages of Malta are Maltese and English.
    • Maltese is a unique language with many words borrowed from the languages of the various countries that once occupied Malta.
    • Maltese is the national language of Malta and an official language of the European Union.

  • 7. Religion:
    • The religion of Malta is Katolicsm, an minority of the population are muslims and protestants
  • 8. Form of government:
    • Malta - a democratic state, evolved as an independent nation in 1964 and later in 1974, became a constitutional republic.
  • 9. Currency:
    • In january of 2008 Euro will be the main currency in Malta
