Scriptures on Sexual Purity Presentation Transcript

  • 1.
    • Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.
    • Psalm 51:10
  • 2.
    • How can a young person stay on the path of purity? By living according to your word.
    • Psalm 119:9
  • 3.
    • Marriage should be honored by all, and the marriage bed kept pure, for God will judge the adulterer and all the sexually immoral.
    • Hebrews 13:4
  • 4.
    • Do not lust in your heart after her beauty or let her captivate you with her eyes.
    • Proverbs 6:25
  • 5.
    • Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry.
    • Colossians 3:5
  • 6.
    • It is God’s will that you should be sanctified: that you should avoid sexual immorality; that each of you should learn to control your own body in a way that is holy and honorable, not in passionate lust like the pagans, who do not know God;
  • 7.
    • and that in this matter no one should wrong or take advantage of a brother or sister. The Lord will punish all those who commit such sins, as we told you and warned you before. For God did not call us to be impure, but to live a holy life.
    • I Thessalonians 4:3-7
  • 8.
    • Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in them. For everything in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes,
  • 9.
    • and the pride of life—comes not from the Father but from the world. The world and its desires pass away, but whoever does the will of God lives forever.
    • I John 2:15-17
  • 10.
    • … The body, however, is not meant for sexual immorality but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body.
    • I Corinthians 6:13b
  • 11.
    • Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ himself? Shall I then take the members of Christ and unite them with a prostitute? Never!
  • 12.
    • Do you not know that he who unites himself with a prostitute is one with her in body? For it is said, “The two will become one flesh.” But whoever is united with the Lord is one with him in spirit.
    • I Corinthians 6:15-17
  • 13.
    • Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a person commits are outside the body, but whoever sins sexually, sins against their own body. Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit,
  • 14.
    • who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.
    • I Corinthians 6:18-20
  • 15.
    • The husband should fulfill his marital duty to his wife, and likewise the wife to her husband. The wife does not have authority over her own body but yields it to her husband.
  • 16.
    • In the same way, the husband does not have authority over his own body but yields it to his wife. Do not deprive each other except perhaps by mutual consent and for a time,
  • 17.
    • so that you may devote yourselves to prayer. Then come together again so that Satan will not tempt you because of your lack of self-control.
    • I Corinthians 7:3-5
  • 18.
    • But among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality, or of any kind of impurity, or of greed, because these are improper for God’s holy people.
    • Ephesians 5:3
  • 19.
    • It is God’s will that you should be sanctified: that you should avoid sexual immorality; that each of you should learn to control your own body in a way that is holy and honorable, not in passionate lust like the pagans, who do not know God;
  • 20.
    • and that in this matter no one should wrong or take advantage of a brother or sister. The Lord will punish all those who commit such sins, as we told you and warned you before. For God did not call us to be impure, but to live a holy life.
    • I Thessalonians 4:3-7
  • 21.
    • When tempted, no one should say, “God is tempting me.” For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone; but each person is tempted
  • 22.
    • when they are dragged away by their own evil desire and enticed. Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death.
    • James 1:13-15
  • 23.
    • Because he himself suffered when he was tempted, he is able to help those who are being tempted.
    • Hebrews 2:18
  • 24.
    • Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has ascended into heaven, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess. For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses,
  • 25.
    • but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet he did not sin. Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.
    • Hebrews 4:14-16
  • 26.
    • So, if you think you are standing firm, be careful that you don’t fall! No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful;
  • 27.
    • he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.
    • I Corinthians 10:12-13
  • 28.

    • Matthew 26:41
  • 29.
    • Say to wisdom, “You are my sister,” and to insight, “You are my relative.” They will keep you from the adulterous woman, from the wayward woman with her seductive words.
    • Proverbs 7:4-5
  • 30.
