Verbs are recognized in Spanish by their ending. There are 3 types of verbs: ◦ AR ◦ ER ◦ IR Examples: HABLAR, COMER, VIVIR
An unchanged verb is calledan INFINITIVEWhat other infinitives doyou know?
Both in English and Spanish verbs CHANGE depending on the SUBJECT of the sentence. This is called CONJUGATING a verb. In English it looks like this: verb = to talk ◦ I talk ◦ You talk ◦ He/She/it talks ◦ We talk ◦ All of you talk ◦ They talk
In Spanish each Subject Pronoun has its own form. For AR verbs the endings go as follows: Yo - Nosotros(as) - Tú - Vosotros(as) – Él/Ella Ellos/Ellas Usted - Ustedes -
The process of conjugating is simple. FIRST: Chop off the AR ending from the infinitive. What you have left is called your STEM. SECOND: Add the ending that matches your subject to the stem.
