Engineering-Motorcycles

 1. 1. Motorcycles
 2. 2. Sylvester H. Roper

In 1867 Sylvester. made a two cylinder, steam-engine motorcycle.(So,the first motorcycle was powered by coal.)This was created in France.

 3. 3. Before it could happen

Most inventions need other machines to make it work. For instance the motorcycle needed an engine so it could work. The engine had to be invented before the motorcycle.

 4. 4. The motorcycle now

We’re in the twenty first century now,the motorcycle has changed a lot from where it was started. It is now powered by gas.We have improved and advanced to what you see to the right.

 5. 5. What it did for its time period

The motorcycle created a new way of transportation.I think this inspired the idea of creating other ways of transportation.Personally I think this is another way of how us as human beings constantly try to improve anything and everything.

 6. 6. Many uses

Not only do we use the motorcycle to get from place to place,we now use it as a sport called motocross. This is where people do extreme stunts with a motorcycle. Of course it is a different kind of motorcycle. To the right there is an example of what stunts people do.

 7. 7. Differences from then and now

-Then(1867)

There was probably only one use, witch would be only to get around town. Like I said before, the motorcycle started out being powered by coal.

-Now(2009)

Today we use motorcycles to get to work, travel, get around town, and like I said before as a sport:motocross. Now we don’t use coal,we use gasoline.

 8. 8. Thank You

This is my presentation.Thank you for listening.I hope you learned something new about motorcycles.
