About Eirik Johan Solheim (born August 20, 1960) is a professor in orthopaedic surgery at the Department of Surgical Sciences, University of Bergen, Bergen, Norway. Eirik Johan Solheim graduated (MD) from medical school (University of Bergen) in 1986 and defended his doctoral thesis (PhD) “Effects of Bioerodible Polyorthoester on Heterotopic and Orthotopic Bone Induction in Rats” at the University of Oslo in 1993. He finished his specialist training for orthopedic surgery in 1998. Dr. Solheim has authored or co-authored about 50 scholarly articles on various orthopedic topics including experimental bone and cartilage repair and clinical studies on surgery of shoulder, elbow, knee and ancle.
