HAWAII (by rosario) Its the newest of the fifty states of the United States (from August 21 de1959) Its capital is Honolulu on the island of Oahu. The state occupies most of the Hawaiian archipelago, the northernmost island group in Polynesia, in the central Pacific Ocean, southwest of the continental United States, southeast of Japan and northeast of Australia.
  2. 2. LOCATION •The Hawaiian archipelago consists of eighteen islands and atolls extending over 2400 kilometers. Of these,´8 of them are considered as "main islands”
  3. 3. LANGUAGE In Hawaii, there are two official languages: English and Hawaiian.
  4. 4. CURRENCY Today Hawaii's economy is based primarily on tourism, possessing an important hotel infrastructure. The currency used in Hawaii as in the rest of the United States is the dollar.
  5. 5. GOVERMENT The City and County of Honolulu is administered by a mayor and a council of nine members, elected for four years.
  6. 6. Something typical of Hawaii,the Hula • Hula is a dance form accompanying or songs by singing. • The hula dramatizes or comments on the mele (songs) • Through the dances they tell stories, including the evolution of characters and situations specific to Hawaii • The song Aloha Oe is considered the unofficial anthem of Hawaii.
  7. 7. How to travel there? By Plane Price of ticket? Between $10.000 / $12.000 Do you need to have a visa? Yes, the conditions to enter Hawaii are the same conditions needed for the U.S.
  8. 8. Something to keep in mind When travelling to Hawaii you should know that there is the possibility of certain natural disasters, such as floods, hurricanes, tsunamis and lava flows.
