  • 1. Holland orThe Netherlands is located in the North of Europe, on the shores of the North Sea, between Belgium and Germany. Its capital is Amsterdam and it is in front of Britain.
  • 2.  Surface area:41,528 km² (18.41% water)  Total population: over 16.5 million  Population density:488 people per km2  Capital city: Amsterdam (inhabitants: 747,000 in 2010)  Languages: Dutch, Frisian (only spoken in Friesland)  Type of government: Constitutional monarchy - parliamentary democracy Characteristics
  • 3.  Religion:27% Roman Catholic, 17% Protestant, 6% Muslim, 1% Hindu, 1% Buddhist
  • 4.  Currency: Euro  The people: The Dutch are creative and tolerant. They are also fairly straightforward, honest and open in their dealings with others. The Dutch are famous for their tolerant attitude.

  • 9. DAM SQUARE  It is the main square in Amsterdam, around which the city grew. It contains, National Monument, obelisk-shaped, the Royal Palace and Madame Tussauds. There is an attractive mixture of styles, life and bustle there.
