  • Custom search is often used as a local web site search engine, such as this one for the OSU campus
  • If is looks familiar, it is because OSU Libraries uses Customer search on it’s own site
  • While Custom Search can be used to index sites, this presentation is about how it can be used to index and search specific topics and specialties. Typically, libraries have used pathfinders or resource guides to create lists of evaluated resources. The challenge is that the customer needs to visit each of the sites as they look for the information they need.
  • The URLs of the sites list in the resource guide can easily be used to populate Custom Search
  • The resulting Custom Search allows the customer to search only the evaluated site
