This week we just finished up our summer skills camp for our kids
martial arts students. In our summer skills camp the kids worked on
brazilianjiujitsu, muaythai kickboxing and wrestling. The basic
components of a good mixed martial arts program. Also during the camp
we did a lot of conditioning and fitness, it’s good to see the kids getting
in shape, getting stronger and being healthier especially with the
childhood obesity epidemic that our Country’s facing.
These kids all worked hard, had fun and learned a lot of new skills.
Mixed martial arts really is the complete package helping to develop
your child. The kids are learning how to defend themselves on their feet,
how to defend themselves on the ground and also how to defend
themselves in the middle range which basically is covered by wrestling.
A lot of martial arts just focus on one aspect while mixed martial arts
focuses on all three plus the fitness component is unbelievably beneficial
for the kids helping them to stay healthy and not get all of the weight
gain that a lot of kids are getting who basically play video games all day
long. You see a lot of overweight kids who spend most of their days
sitting around playing video games and not being active.
I highly recommend you check out a mixed martial arts school for your
child! Look for a certified academy, then go in take your child and have
them watch class to see what they think, talk to the instructors and then
from there have your child try class out. When they try out the program
now you can see if your child likes it or what they think about it and
once they get started developing self-defense skills, their confidence
