Layout- This double page is from NME magazine. In this spread the image of the artist is placed on the left side. If one was to evaluate this spread using the rule of thirds, this layout would not be expected. If this spread followed the rule of thirds, the image of Lily Allen will be placed on the left because it is commonly the first thing that the audience are drawn to. Compromising a common layout of the spread for a more unorthodox one may represent Lily Allen as a distinct and easily identifiable artist.
Mise En Scene- The image of Lily Allen is a medium shot. There is also a lack of distance between Lily Allen and the camera. The lack of distance suggests that she is open and has nothing to hide.
Typeface - The quote is written in a sans serif font which in theory should make it look serious and mature, however, the white font is placed below black squares which gives the double page spread a rebellious vibe .
House Style- The font of the text on this page is similar to the fonts used on the other pages. The artist is wearing red, this allows furthers the evidence of house style in this double page spread. This is due to red being one of the main colours used by NME.
Representation - The artist is standing with her arms just above her hips. Her body language suggests that she is defiant and rebellious. She is also wearing red. The colour red symbolises passion so in turn, Lily Allen is represented as a passionate musician. NME have dedicated one half of the spread to a photo of Lily Allen. This may suggest that Lily Allen is considered an important artist.
