1. 1. Another Founder Pony By Equimove Master Farrier Jerry Linker
    2. 2. Jerry Linker Works on Severely Foundered Pony.

The owner of this pony has been trying forever to get someone to trim his feet. Every Farrier that looked at him had no clue where to start. The last Farrier before me had been working with certified AFA Farriers. He told the owner he only knew of one person that could possibly fix this pony, so, he called me. I went out on Thursday and this is what I saw.

The Right front hoof was 17 inches long. It had grown in a pigtail fashion meanwhile the left front was aprox. 12 inches long. It looked like a big ski. The right rear was about 12.5 inches long, looking like a big ski also. The left rear was in decent shape, only being about 5 inches long.

As I began the work; I immediately began cutting on the right front hoof. Within 15 minutes I produced a totally normal foot on the pony. Ten minutes after that, I trimmed the left foot to a completely normal foot as well. In another 10 minutes the right rear looked perfectly normal. The left rear was no problem.

You can see for yourself in the following pictures that these feet were about as messed up as anything you might ever encounter. But, this was not from neglect, as, this owner had used the services of many different Farriers to fix the problem. What was the cause of this poor pony’s dilemma? It was simply a lack of knowledge and ability on the part of those who worked on him.

Today this pony travels in the pasture, in all three gaits, completely pain free. The only problem the owner has with him now, is that he cannot catch him!
