  • 4. GMAIL• Gmail is Googles free email service• You can find it at mail.google.com• Gmail was launched as an invitation-only beta release on April 1, 2004• The Gmail service currently provides more than 7400 MB of free storage
  • 5. • Gmail is sponsored by AdSense ads (these ads appear on the side panel of mail messages when you open them from within Gmail)• You cannot turn this service off, and it prevents you from sending an executable file as an attachment• The Gmail Labs feature, introduced on June 5, 2008, allows users to test new or experimental features of Gmail, such as bookmarking of important e-mail messages, custom keyboard- shortcuts and games
  • 6. GOOGLE DOCS• Web page: docs.google.com• Google Docs is a free, Web-based word processor, spreadsheet, presentation, and form application offered by Google• It allows users to create and edit documents online while collaborating in real-time with other users
  • 7. • Documents that you can store on your account may not exceed 500k, embedded images must not exceed 2MB each, and spreadsheets are limited to 256 columns, 200,000 cells, and 100 sheets. Limit for presentations is 10 Mb.• Google Docs can be used for viewing and editing in offline mode too, using Google Gears
  • 8. GOOGLE EARTH• Google Earth is a software from Google that gives you your own virtual globe with more features than Google Maps• You can save custom locations with flags, so you can refer to them frequently
  • 9. The google earth interface• Google Earth opens with a view of the world from space• Clicking and dragging on the planet will gently spin the globe• The middle scroll wheel or right-click dragging will zoom in and out for close-up views• In some areas the close-ups are detailed enough to make out cars and even people
  • 10. • If you pass over the upper right-hand corner of the globe, the small compass will turn into the larger navigation control• You can tilt the globe to have a perspective view and move the horizon line up or down• This view is best with the Terrain layer turned on
  • 11. GOOGLE SPREADSHEET• Google Spreadsheet lets you make spreadsheets that can be imported and exported from Excel• You can also make spreadsheets that are group editable, so everyone can contribute• This comes in very handy for tracking group projects and keeping track of tabular information
  • 12. TOOLBAR AND CALENDAR• One thing every student needs is a schedule• You can schedule your time with Google Calendar so you don’t forget about some important dates!!!• You can make a class schedule and share it with your parents or friends, so they know your class schedule

  • 14. GOOGLE MAPS• Google Maps is Googles search engine for locations and directions• It resembles a miniature Google Earth that runs in your web browser instead of on your desktop• Google Maps can be found on the web at http://maps.google.com
  • 15. FEATURES• Google Maps work well as an exploration tool• You can enter keywords, just like the web search engine, and relevant results will be revealed as markers on a map• You can search for the names of cities, states, landmarks, or even just types of businesses from broad categories, such as ‘restaurants’ or ‘pet store’
  • 16. • There are three main types of maps offered within Google Maps:1. Maps - standard graphic representation of streets, city names, and landmarks
  • 17. 2. Satellite - satellite view woven together from commercial satellite photos
  • 18. 3. Terrain – it shows us the general physical landscape of an area.
  • 19. • Navigation:- you can navigate with the zoom and arrow buttons on the upper left corner of the map- theres also a small overview window on the bottom right corner of the map, and you can use your keyboard arrow buttons to navigate as well
  • 20. CONCLUSION• Google tools can make your life easier• Send emails to your friends in any time with Gmail – one of the best email services• Find the street you live in using Google Earth or Google Maps• Use Google Toolbar spell checker and you will sound like a pro
  • 21. QUESTION• Did you ever forget to buy a Christmas gift for your girlfriend/boyfriend? If so, which Google tool would you use to prevent this from happening again?- Thats right! With Google Calendar you can schedule whatever you want within a second.
