  • 1. Welcome to Fourth Grade Mrs. Gomes, Mrs. Karmelek, Mrs. Perron, Miss Ramsey, and Ms. Willis
  • 2. Welcome to Parent’s Night Tonight is to learn about fourth grade expectations. If you have questions or concerns about your child please call your child’s teacher or send in a note to make an appointment.
  • 3. Typical Day
    • 8:05-8:25 Morning Work
    • 8:30-9:30 Social Studies
    • 9:30-10:30 Math
    • 10:30-11:30 Reading
    • 11:30-12:00 Writing
    • 12-12:20 Lunch
    • 12:25-12:45 Recess/Intervention
    • 12:45-1:00 Drop Everything and Read
    • 1-1:45 “Special class”
    • 1:45-2:25 Science
    • 2:30 Dismissal
  • 4. MORNING WORK
    • Unpack backpack
    • Hand in/organize homework
    • Daily Cumulative Review (math)
    • Math timings
    • Give notes to teacher
    • Lunch/Attendance
    • Get organized for the day
  • 5. SPECIAL SUBJECTS
    • Physical Education – twice a week
    • Art – once a week
    • Music – once a week
    • Computers – once a week
    • Library – once a week
  • 6. Be Prepared!
    • Physical Education (Mrs. Smiegel): Sneakers are a MUST!!
    • Art: (Ms. Goos) A large, old shirt needs to be brought into class.
    • Music (Mr. Walz) : Bring your recorder.
    • Computer (Mrs. Naglieri) : Remember your pencil!
    • Library (Mrs. Jewett): Return your book!
  • 7. Assignment Book
    • Assignments are written in daily.
    • Be sure the book comes to school each day.
    • There is a section for notes to/from the teacher.
    • Please be sure to check your child’s homework each night.
  • 8. Homework Policy
    • Homework is given Monday through Thursday as a review of the day’s work.
    • Grading is either a check or a zero.
    • Students will stay in at recess to make up any missed homework.
  • 9. Snack Time!
    • Snack is mid-morning.
    • It is a “working” snack.
    • A HEALTHY snack of fruits or vegetables is required!
    • We have a “peanut-safe” school
    • with “peanut-free” classrooms.
  • 10. BOOK CLUBS
    • Offered monthly
    • Due date is on the monthly newsletter
    • Send in a CHECK only please! We cannot send cash through the mail!
    • Approximately a two week turnaround time
    • Each classroom will have an online ordering option too!
  • 11.
    • Historic Deerfield
    • Bronx Zoo – Last year, the cost was less than $50. per parent. There is a fundraiser associated with this trip.
    • Springfield Science Museum
