White Paper on Homelessness and National Partnership Agreements <ul><li>The National Affordable Housing Agreement (NAHA) will replace; </li></ul><ul><ul><li>The Commonwealth State Housing Agreement (CSHA) </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Supported Accommodation Assistance Program (SAAP V) Agreement. </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>and Capital Assistance Program (CAP) </li></ul></ul><ul><li>Base funding has been secured </li></ul><ul><li>All SAAP contracts honoured until June 2010 </li></ul><ul><li>Further detail on future directions and reforms to be announced by December 2009 </li></ul>

National Partnership Agreement on Nation Building and Jobs Plan (Stimulus Package) <ul><li>The key outcomes expected to be achieved: </li></ul><ul><li>Within 3 years around 20,000 new social housing dwellings will be built - primarily for people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness </li></ul><ul><li>Dwellings built will meet the needs of people on public housing waiting lists </li></ul><ul><li>New dwellings will provide around a 50% reduction in the waiting time for people with high housing needs on public housing lists </li></ul><ul><li>75% of new dwellings to be completed by Dec 2010 </li></ul><ul><li>Around 2,500 existing public housing stock will become available that would otherwise become unfit for occupation </li></ul><ul><li>This initiative will provide an immediate stimulus to the building and construction industry </li></ul>

National Partnership Agreement on Nation Building and Jobs Plan (Stimulus Package) <ul><li>1500 housing outcomes into South Australia </li></ul><ul><li>Emphasis on housing homeless or at risk of homelessness </li></ul><ul><li>Proposed targets </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Youth </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Adults </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Families at risk </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Domestic Violence </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Exiting care </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Mental health </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Aged </li></ul></ul><ul><li>All housing will have support attached – a key strategy and reform requirement - more detail to follow over the next month </li></ul><ul><li>20% targeted to indigenous outcomes </li></ul>
