  • 2. The Atoms Family StoryIn the center of Matterville, there is aplace called the Nucleus Arcade, Name:where two members of the Atoms Patty ProtonFamily like to hang out. Perky Description:Patty Proton, like her sisters, is Positivequite large with a huge smile and Favorite Activity:eyes that sparkle (+). Patty is always Hanging out at the Nucleus Arcadehappy and has a very positivepersonality. Nerdy Nelda Neutron Name:is large like Patty, but she has a Nelda Neutronboring, flat mouth and eyes with zeroexpression (o). Her family is very Description:apathetic and neutral about Neutraleverything. Patty, Nelda, and their Favorite Activity:sisters spend all their time at the Hanging out at the Nucleus Arcadearcade.
  • 3. Around the Nucleus Arcade, you willfind a series of roadways that are used Name:by another member of the Atoms Elliott ElectronFamily, Enraged Elliott Electron. Elliott Description:races madly around the Arcade on his Negativebright red chrome-plated Harley- Favorite Activity:Davidson. He rides so fast that no one Racing around the arcadecan be sure where he is at any time.Elliott is much smaller than Patty andNelda and he is always angry becausethese bigger relatives will not let him inthe Arcade. He has a frown on his face,eyes that are squinted with anger, and avery negative (-) attitude.
  • 4. The first energy street can only holdonly two Electron brothers. The secondenergy street, called the EnergyFreeway, can hold 8 brothers. The thirdenergy street, called the EnergySuperhighway, can hold 18 of thebrothers. Energy Superhighway Can hold 18 electrons Energy Freeway Can hold 8 electrons Nucleus Arcade Energy Street Contains protons & neutrons Can hold 2 electrons
  • 5. The morale of Matterville is stable as long as each negative Electron brotheris balanced out by one positive Proton sister. The number of residents inMatterville depends on the Proton and Neutron families.Challenge: What would happen to the morale of Matterville if one ElliottElectron was kidnapped?
