  • In 1167, a boy was born To parents of stately class. This boy was Temujin, the firstbornOf seven young lads and one small lass.
  • And Temujin, oh so great, A fantastic empire would create;Renowned for strength, smarts, and power, He’d rule until his life turned sour.
  • He was betrothed to Borte but refused to marry.After his family was cast out into the coldAnd his half-brothers were killed, Temujin didn’t tarry:He wed Borte before he was 16 years old.
  • And Temujin, oh so great, A fantastic empire would create;Renowned for strength, smarts, and power, He’d rule until his life turned sour.
  • Quite soon Temujin had collected and cared For a group of followers that adored him; He unified many tribes, and for this he declaredHimself the Great Khan Genghis, full of vim.
  • And Genghis Khan, oh so great, A fantastic empire did create;Renowned for strength, smarts, and power, He ruled until his life turned sour.
  • Genghis inspired many innovations,Like a strong legal code and new war tactics That contributed to the Mongols’ world domination And turned world history more climactic.

  • The conquering continued for many years after,Including the siege of Beijing and invasion of Samarkand; Genghis and his Mongols kept fighting thereafter, But in 1227, he met his final end.
