  • 1.  Emma Wise is currently working as a dental assistant with the goal of entering dental school in the near future. In her free time, Emma Wise greatly enjoys volunteer work and lends her time to organizations such as the Humane Society. Located in Bloomington, the Humane Society of Central Illinois is a nonprofit that seeks to find loving homes for each pet in its care.
  • 2.  The society benefits greatly from generous volunteers who help in many different ways. Volunteers typically assist at the Pet Adoption Center between the hours of 7 a.m. and 8 p.m and are crucial to the functioning of the facility. Volunteers who wish to be hands-on with the animals can walk dogs, work in the cat rooms, and groom animals. Other activities include the cleaning of cages, dishes and laundry, as well as administrative work. Additionally, more motivated volunteers may consider participating on one of the society’s committees, or fostering and/or adopting an animal.
  • 3.  Each volunteer must undergo a New Volunteer Training Class. Information about the next scheduled class and more details can be found at www.hscipets.org.
