Project #2
2a. Claira can exit the library and walk on Cat's Path toward where she will cross Rose Street.
She will cross Rose Street and continue to go straight until she hits Library Drive. She will go
right on Library Drive. She then will make her way between the M. I. K. Library and Pence Hall
toward Miller Hall. When she hits Miller Hall she will go left toward the Visitor's Center. Right
before the Main Building she will go right toward Barker Hall and the Student Center. She will
pass the Student Center and when she comes to Avenue of Champions she will walk directly
across and be at her dorm.
2b. The first path: AB, BC, CD, DE, EF, FG, GN, NO, OM, MP, PR, RS
The second path: AB, BC, CD, DE, EF, FG, GH, HI, IK, KL, LM, MP, PR, RS
3. No, there are more than two vertices that are odd so it is not a path, which means all of the
vertices are not even so it is not a circuit. There will always be paths that need to be retraced
unless the path is updated and Eulerized.
5. Duplicate Edges: AB, BC, CD, DE, EF, FG, IJ, ZY, YM, PR, RS, UT, WX
I know that my Eulerized path now has a Euler circuit because now all of the vertices on
the Cat's Path are even, which is what is necessary for it to be a Euler circuit.
2. 6. Officer Bob is able to patrol the entire Cat's Path using this route: UT, TQ, QP, PR, RS, SR,
RP, PM, MY, YZ, ZY, YM, MO, ON, NG, GF, FE, ED, DC, CB, BA, AB, BC, CD, DE, EF,
FG, GH, HI, IJ, JI, IK, KL, LM, MW, WX, XW, WV, VT, TU
7. One place that should be added to the Cat's Path is the Kentucky Clinic. There are a few
reasons for this. This is a place that students may be needing to go at all times of day and night.
There could be an emergency or a late appointment, either way a student may be forced to walk
there in the dark. There is not always a friend able to join you when you need to go to your
doctors appointment, and there is a chance that someone may get hurt at a time they are alone.
This building should be included on the Cat's Path for those reasons. This could be made
possible by from point J on South Limestone the points 1, 2, and 3 could be added to the right
leading to the front of the building.
Another place that should be included on Cat's Path is the Alpha Phi house, and truly all
houses on Columbia Avenue. There are many women that live in the Alpha Phi house and return
to the house after dark on many occasions. There is not a lot of parking behind the house, so
some girls are required to park at the library and walk over to the house. Although this is a short
walk, a lot can happen in a short time. Columbia Avenue should be protected by Cat's Path so
those who live along that road are able to get home safely. This could happen by adding points 4,
5, and 6 toward the left branching off from between points E and D. Then off of point 6 there
could be points 7-11 toward the right all the way down Columbia Avenue.
The last place I think should be on Cat's Path is Commonwealth Stadium. This is where
K Lot is and many students have to park there. Of course there will be times when these students
get back late and have to walk back that far distance to their dorm from the stadium. This is a
3. very important place to be protected. My RA actually had an issue with a man chasing her
through this part of campus. So many students park there and it would be very easy for someone
to hide within the cars and attack an innocent person walking home alone. A way the stadium
could be on Cat's Path is between points B and A the points 12-20 could be added toward the
right down University Drive leading all the way to the stadium.
