1. How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts?
2. When creating all three of our products we made it very important in making sure they all linked together in some way. Digipak Advert Screen grab from music video
3. Our main product (the music video) was the first task to be completed. This meant when creating our ancillary tasks we had something to base them on. As the beach was a strong theme throughout our music video we continued this theme through to the digipak and magazine advertisement. We thought this would work well for our band and audience, as our chosen band is unsigned and not well know they need to be easily noticed. Therefore if the advert and digipak are closely linked it makes it easier for people to recognise their work. Also, when people watch the music video they can link all three products together. I think the combination of our main task and ancillary tasks worked very well. We had the beach theme throughout all three tasks, we also used the same image on the front of the digipak and on the advert, this shot is also in our music video. Another continuing theme was the sparrows that were used in both the advert and the digipak. We thought this would be appealing to our audience as it is very typically indie and mixed it up as we used still images taken on our filming day and then also edited the sparrows on Photoshop and put them over the stills, this made the final products a bit different and more interesting to look at. The combinations we chose to use worked well as all our products related closely to each other and made it more obvious for the audience they were all by the same band. Also, as this band is new and low key it helps to give them an image and something for their target audience to look out for and be attracted by.
