      I am a focused and determined communicator, with a strong work ethic and team mentality, who offers academic diligence and a commitment to succeed.
    3. Goal
      I aspire to be a leader in the field of public relations, by creating strategic communications plans and utilizing modern social media toolsto achieve professional and personal success.
    4. Objectives
      To be offered a job after completing a successful internship with the same company, by demonstrating that my contribution is valuable to the organization’s communications accomplishments.
      To develop a presence and standing in the public relations field in Toronto, within a couple of years upon graduating from Humber public relations.
      To become an active member in the two major professional communications associations, IABC and CPRS.
    5. Objectives: Personal SWOT
      I will draw from my strengths in writing, organization and building interpersonal relationships.
      I will have the advantage of being a new Humber PR certificate graduate, offering the latest in communications knowledge and tools.
      My weaknesses come from my lack of professional credibility and industry contacts.
      As such, I will create opportunities to establish a strong presence and reputation in the communications industry, by networking and maintaining positive visibility.
    6. Situation Analysis
      I am currently a Humber Public Relations postgraduate student.
      I am set to complete the program in April 2010, and embark on an internship in May and June 2010.
      Upon completion I will have the potential to begin a public relations career in Toronto.
      The technological environment is creating opportunities for social media savvy communicators to further the success of an organization.
    7. Key Messages
      I will use my knowledge and experience as a student leader and volunteer to be an effective communicator.
      My postgraduate public relations certificate will equip me with the most extensive knowledge of the communications industry and innovative communications tools.
      I will apply my experience gained from volunteering in the field of public relations and involvement with CPRS and IABC, to achieve success in the communications industry.
    8. Channels
      To achieve my goals and objectives I will tap into the evolving world of social media to network and solidify my personal brand.
      I will utilize a number social media tools such as Twitter, Facebook, RSS feeds, blogging and LinkedIn.
      I will connect with professional in IABC and CPRS in person to develop relationships.
    9. Strategy
      Focus on networking and building a reputation within Toronto’s communications industry in order to move up the public relations ladder.
      Further develop my communications skills by continuously being involved in various public relations activities and events, and gaining knowledge from seasoned professionals.
      Keeping informed of new social media tools and strategies and applying them to public relations.
    10. Tactics
      Attend professional communications associations’ networking events.
      Volunteer in various communications roles.
      Build a public relations portfolio.
      Add to skills and experience on my resume.
      Develop my personal brand by participating in social media networking such as Twitter and blogging.
      Communicate with leading professional communicators.
      Build a social media following on Twitter.
      Add value to the world.
    11. Critical Path
      November - December 2009
      Register with IABC and CPRS and sign up for networking events
      Apply for more volunteer opportunities in public relations
