Mid-Term EvaluationsSome of you will have already received mid-term evaluations.Instructors are not required to do this, but many will reportstudent performance as satisfactory or unsatisfactory.Actions you can take if Unsatisfactory: Go to your Instructor during office hours Make an appointment to meet with me Tutoring – Academic Services website Study Skills Workshops – Academic Services website Speaking and Writing Centers – search UMW website Join or start a study group Consider a withdrawal from the course for a “W” grade (deadline: October 26)

  6. 6. Creating Next Semester’s Schedule:Generating a What-If-AnalysisLog into EagleNet 1. Click on Banner Self Service 2. Click on Student & Financial Aid 3. Click on Student Records 4. Click on Degree Evaluation, select Term and click Submit 5. Click on What-If-Analysis, choose the Term and click Continue 6. Choose your prospective Major and click Continue 7. Select your Major and click Submit 8. Click on Generate Request, this will generate

Creating Next Semester’s Schedule:Picking Possible Courses Review the General Education Requirements when planning your schedule Review Possible Major Requirements Review Possible Minor or Certificate Requirements Overlap Requirements (if possible) Classes can fulfill a Gen. Ed., Major Requirement, and Intensive all at once or a mixture (Gen. Ed. & Major, Major & Intensive, Gen. Ed. & Intensive) Explore your interests through

Creating Next Semester’s Schedule:Searching Spring Course OfferingsClasses will be available on Oct. 10, go to the Registrar’s website or EagleNet to look for classesUse the scheduling planning tools (i.e. Scheduling Worksheet, Course Registration Request form)The forms can be found on the Academic Services webpage
  9. 9. Creating Next Semester’s Schedule:Individual AdvisingAdvising Hold –This hold has to be released in order to register. I will release the hold once you have met with me and I have reviewed your proposed schedule at our individual meeting during the Advising Period.Advising Period – October 17 – 26, be sure to sign up for an appointment with me.KEEP IN MIND THAT IT IS ULTIMATELY YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO ENSURE THAT YOU FULFILL ALL DEGREE REQUIREMENTS W HILE AT UMW .
  10. 10. Creating Next Semester’s Schedule:Registering in BannerRegistration Appointment Times - Appointment times are determined by the number of completed credit hours one has. You can find this on your transcript (“Earned” column, “Overall” row in Banner). This number does not include courses you are currently taking because you haven’t completed them yet. Once the appointment time ends, you will not be able to alter your schedule until the Schedule Adjustment Period begins which is November 12 through January 18.Find the time when you are permitted to register at: http://academics.umw.edu/registrar/course- schedules-and-registration/registration- appointment-times/
  11. 11. Creating Next Semester’s Schedule:Registering in BannerBe prepared with first and second class optionsRegistration Steps:1. Log into EagleNet2. Hover over My University Resources, click on Academics, click on Add/Drop Classes3. Choose the correct term and click on Submit4. Enter CRNs for classes and click on Submit Changes (it will say Web Registered next to them if they are successful)5. Repeat as needed until you get the number of credits desired6. Be sure to print a copy of your final schedule every time you make changes
  12. 12. Creating Next Semester’s Schedule:Tips to rememberKeep track of why you want a particular course (i.e. for aGen. Ed., Intensive, Major, or Elective) so that you can usethat as search criteria for alternates if your first choice isfull.Anything taken for your Major or the General EducationRequirements MUST be taken as “Graded” credit and not“Pass/Fail”.You may take a maximum of 1 P/F and 2 SA/UN coursesin the same semester.If you aren’t in the course in Banner, you aren’t in thecourse. Print your schedule after you register, and againeach time you make changes.If Banner is not working properly, for example you have aprerequisite on your transcript, but it won’t let you registerfor the following course, contact the Office of the Registrar
