Earty and Heavenly Sanctuary Earty and Heavenly Sanctuary Presentation Transcript

  • The sanctuary "is a key to the interpretation ofsome of the most important propheciespertaining to the present time….It shows ourpresent whereabouts in the worlds history.... Itplaces the law of God in its true light, draws outthe heart in practical Christianity, points theinquirer the way to Christ, shows on what linesthe Judgment proceeds, how and when thework of mercy for this world will close, Christappear, redemption be completed, and theblessings of the everlasting covenant besecured. Strange (strange indeed) that a subjectoccupying so important a position in the divineeconomy should have been so long overlooked.Strange that so few even now are found togive it in any degree their attention, still lesstheir study."Uriah Smith in Looking Unto Jesus, pp. 57, 58.

  • “…..we should not rest until we become intelligent in regard tothe subject of the sanctuary, which is brought out in the visionsof Daniel and John. This subject sheds great light on our presentposition and work, and gives us unmistakable proof that God hasled us in our past experience. It explains our disappointment in1844, showing us that the sanctuary to be cleansed was not theearth, as we had supposed, but that Christ then entered into themost holy apartment of the heavenly sanctuary, and is there Most holyperforming the closing work of His priestly office, in fulfillment of Closing workthe words of the angel to the prophet Daniel, Unto twothousand and three hundred days; then shall the sanctuary becleansed. Dan. 8:14…. ”Gods people are now to have their eyesfixed on the heavenly sanctuary, where the final ministration ofour great High Priest in the work of the judgment is going Judgmentforward, – where He is interceding for His people." – "LifeSketches," p.278, 1915 edition.
  • Approach of the Study Main focus will be on the heavenly sanctuary The earthly sanctuary is important because it was Gods object lesson to illustrate redemption in the heavenly. But the heavenly itself is the real sanctuary, "the great original," PP 357, where the work of redemption is actually in progress…..We will simultaneously relate the life of a Christian as revealed in the components ofthe earthly sanctuary (esp. during the recap), and the ministry of Christ in theheavenly sanctuary and its importance to us .
