    • The first generation of computers started in 1946 with ENIAC
    • digital computer capable of being reprogrammed to solve computing problems
    • the completed machine was shown in 1946 at the University of Pennsylvania
    • It cost almost $500,000
    • The first electronic computer that could store its own programs was developed in 1948 at Manchester University, it was called "The baby"

  • 4. Who invented computers? English mathematician Charles Babbage (1792–1871) designed a mechanical computing machine called the "analytical engine.“ In 1812, Babbage worked on the idea of a machine that could calculate data more rapidly than existing computing methods, and without human error.

    • 2 types of Computers;  Analog + Digital
    • Example:  Analog might be a calculator, Digital might be the computer
    • The main part of a computer is a CPU, which stands for Central Processing Unit
    • The main computer has 5 main functions; input, memory/storage, arithmetic (math)/logic, output and control
    • A hard disk also known as a hard drive is used for storing basic things on your computer.

    • Bill Gates' house was designed using a Macintosh computer.

    • it took the World Wide Web only 4 years to reach 50 million users.
