    • Mª Paula Figueiroa Rego
    • Paula Rego was born in Lisbon on January 26, 1935,.She attended St. Julians School during all her childhood and adolescence.In 1954, encouraged by her father, she moved to London to attend the Slade School of Art at the age of 17.
    • She met several artists, including Victor Willing, whom shemarried in 1959 and with whom she had three children. Although she lives in England , she often comes toPortugal to exhibit her works of art.
    • She is recognized, and is regarded as one of the four bestliving painters in England.Her work is influenced by surrealism and expressionism.Her paintings are large canvas, which tell stories that haveimpressed since her childhood.
    • The grotesque characters, often drawn from fairy tales, areportrayed somehow cynically and cruelly and sometimesrepresent the fabulous world of your imagination .
    • With a prodigious imagination and skills that explore varioustechniques and languages​​, always with a surprising consistency,Paula Rego has numerous solo exhibitions and retrospectives inrenowned museums and galleries, and has been grantednumerous awards and distinctions.
    • She currently works and lives in London and is represented byMarlborough Fine Arts
    • Nowadays Paula Rego exhibits her works in a gallerycalled House of Stories which is located in Avenida daRepublica, Cascais and has free admission. www.casadashistoriaspaularego.pt
