  • Twitter is a social networking and microblogging service that allows you answer the question, "What are you doing?" by sending short text messages 140 characters in length, called "tweets", to your friends, or "followers."
Microblogging … “What are you doing?”
This is my account. A tiny bio & picture. And then, “microposts” … 140 characters or fewer to answer the question: “What are you doing?”
    > You can post whatever you want … most people it’s a quick update.
Businesses also use this to respond to people talking about their brands.
It can also be used to track things … outbreak of influenza for example … how many people have certain words in their posts?
This is you TALKING … but who’s listening? Who are you listening to?
This is the “old twitter” …
Few more things … you can just post your updates, but that’s kind of like talking to yourself.
You can also follow people … and depending on your privacy settings … they can follow you .
And that’s where it gets interesting … getting these updates from people / organizations / news.
I get MOST of my news from twitter.
You can go to their profile and see what they’re up to …
You can let these posts wash on by
  • @twittername

  • Find your friends by uploading an address book
I find it’s easier to look through who your friends are following … those are the folks you’re connected to here
  • Just look for people you know are on …
  • Some more stuff to do:
  • Don’t add your location if you’re concerned about the phone as a tracking device
    Don’t show everyone’s photos
DO protect your tweets if you have any concerns
  • You can update your password here
You can post updates on twitter from your phone … if you set it up that way.
You can turn off notices // want an email when you get a direct message? Ot when someone follows you?
  • This is where you add a picture!
  • Change your design … colors, theme, etc.
