  14. 14. IRREGULAR VERBS Irregular verbs have a different Past Simple form, you will find a list in your Workbook (page 100). Some examples are: Go went Put put Run ran Write wrote Buy bought

  16. 16. We use the auxiliary DID in its negative form DID NOT or DIDN'T .
  17. 17. He didn't go to NYC.
  18. 18. We didn't work here.

  20. 20. We also use the auxiliary DID before the personal pronoun:
  21. 21. Did he go to NYC?
  22. 22. Where did he work ?

  24. 24. USE OF PAST SIMPLE When do we use the Past Simple tense? -To talk about actions that took place in the past. -To talk about actions that were finished in the past. “Samantha wrote a book last year” “Yesterday I watched a film” (and I finished it!)
  25. 25. SEQUENCING WORDS <ul><li>They help you write and understand a story by telling the events chronologically:
  26. 26. “ Firstly , Jim arrived home and he decided to watch a film. Secondly , he prepared his dinner. Then , he brushed his teeth and after he read some pages of his favourite book. Finally he went to bed.” </li></ul>
  27. 27. ACTIVITY <ul><li>Write a short text in your notebook about what you did during the weekend. Use as much sequencing words as you can and be careful with the use of regular or irregular verbs. Remember to use the PAST SIMPLE!
