  • 4. Step 1: Transcription• In eukaryotes it occurs in the nucleus.
  • 5. Steps:• 1) RNA polymerase (enzyme) • Binds to DNA and separates the two strands.
  • 6. • 2) One strand of DNA is used as the template to make messenger RNA.• RNA nucleotides are added to growing strand.• No thymine in RNA has uracil instead• A=U and G=C
  • 7. DNA strand = ATCGTGCAWhat would be the mRNA strand created?
  • 8. • 3) Single stranded mRNA created andprocess is called transcription.• mRNA leaves the nucleus to go to theribosomes where it’s code is used to createa protein.
