The Eiffel Tower was built for the 1889 World Fair which also involved with the centenary of the French Revolution.
Alexandre Gustave was the one responsible for erecting the Eiffel Tower.
The Eiffel tower is one of the most known monuments worldwide.!

The Eiffel Tower began on January 26, 1887, and was completed on March 31, 1889.
Alexandre Gustave Eiffel was the main architect.
The Eiffel tower stands 324 meters tall, and weights 7300 tons. 1652 steps to the top.
The tower was built by 132 workers and 50 engineers.
The names of 72 prominent French scientists and famous personalities are affixed on the sides of Eiffel Tower just beneath the first platform.

How Much Paint did it take to paint the Eiffel tower??
Approximately 60 tons of paint and a time period of 15 to 18 months is required to paint the Eiffel Tower!

It was almost torn down in 1909, but was saved because of its antenna - used for telegraphy at that time.
