  • My pc backup and keeping your data safehttp://www.empowernetwork.com/elian/blog/my- pc- backup- and- keeping- your- data- safe?id=elian December 19, 2012I just happen to live in the state of South Carolina where we were notified a few weeks ago thatour tax records had been compromised. What a headache. While I can’t offer you tips about that, what I can offer you tips about is how to handle backing up your computer with My PC Backup. So my top 4 tips to keep your electronic life sane including using my pcbackup system:1) EmailSimplify your online life using one (at most two)ACTIVE email addresses to receive that criticalinformation. I’ve coached many clients who have 4-5addresses that critical emails go to. This is crazy! Haveone primary. Forward others to it if needed.2) Email not with ISPMake sure your email address is not tied to yourinternet service provider. I used Mindspring and thenBellsouth for years until Gmail got going strong. Now Inever have to change just because we move and/orhave a new service provider. Not e: even if you get a “forwarding for life” email address (like the one I have where I went tocollege) use it sparingly. Their servers might block good messages. Don’t rely on them to controlyour critical mail.I recommend Gmail and Google Apps because they have good spam control, the ads are at aminimum, and the login ties into all their other services like Google Drive, Calendar, and much more.3) Ref erence LogKeep a reference sheet of critical information. It can be online in a secure place, in a binder ornotebook. The key is to be consistent and have it when you need it.4) My pc backupBack-up regularly… daily pref erably. Since I run a business from home and I work for clients, it iscritical that I don’t loose any information. After a lot of trial and error I have decided that anautomated backup system works best for me. I chose My PC Backup for that system. It is easy toinstall and I can set it and forget it. Plus it is very affordable.
