Project Core Objectives• Development of a strong long term EU engagement with India, Brazil and South Africa for the areas of Trust, Security & Privacy;• Strong interactions with program management / funding and research organizations to ascertain the potential interest and areas to develop meaningful cooperation;• Establishment of an International Advisory Group (IAG) and working groups in order to build a truly global community comprised of both members from funding agencies and research communities; [5] eindia.eletsonline.com

BIC process• At programme level – funding agencies – Identify the counterparts with EC Unit F5 • http://cordis.europa.eu/fp7/ict/security/ – Identify the areas of funding in India and map to F5 – Identify International Advisory Group (IAG) member(s) for longer term global strategy amongst EU and other countries• At researcher level – research communities working on the topics – Identify counterparts in the research community carried out like- minded research into Working groups – Identify select IAG members for longer term global strategy – Brainstorm and prioritise research topics of mutual benefit • Done on bi-lateral basis first and then with other countries via Annual Forum and working groups. Potential India - EU trust and security topics (1/2)• Trust, Security and Privacy in mobile environments – EU and India researchers have different yet complimentary perspectives on the research involved in the accessibility and realisation of mobile services esp. in rural areas.• Identity management (eg. UID, privacy protecting ID systems) – biometrics – can we work together on low cost, less power intensive equipment providing the required accuracy – Authentication – strong work in India and EU• International Data Exchange for Cybersecurity – Secure data exchange and sharing for analysis – CERTs working well together• Protection against malware when there is a heavy reliance on imported systems – Approaches to guarantee protection at source – Is there a way to influence the manufacturing process? How can technologies provide this control to citizens? – needs strong link between social scientists and technologists – How to deal with conflicts between the "right to info", "access to personal data", "updating the data" and right-to anonymity (be forgotten).• Balance between strong security tools and efficiency and effectiveness – Security with flexibility – building cost effective, tailor made, indigenous security products that compete for export market• Risk management approaches to trust and security – Economics of security and privacy – Trade-offs between risk and security: what does it cost society?
