    • Student Christmas Party – Monday 14 th December at Rescue Rooms    
    • The Event
    • 18.00                     Doors open
    • 18.00 – 18.30      Introduction and prize giving
    • 18.30 – 19.00      MC Battle final
    • 19.00 – 21.00      Staff vs. Students Battle of the Bands (3 songs per band)
    • In between various prize giving and DJ/Games entertainment
    • 21.00                     Grand Prize Draw
    • 21.15 – 21.45      MC Spyda
    • 21.45 to close     DJs
    • All programmed entertainment will finish by 10.00pm . After 10.00pm it is strictly over 18s only .
    • Tickets
    • Tickets are £3.50 and this includes a free drink plus entry into the Grand Prize Draw (to claim the prize the winner needs to attend!). Buy your tickets from EST or your course tutor. ON SALE NOW!!
    • Details
    • If you would like to be part of the MC Battle , please submit your demos to EST by Monday 30/11/09 . Three finalists will be selected for the event night final.
    • If you would like to be part of Battle of the Bands , please submit your demos to EST by Friday 27/11/09 . Three bands will be selected for the event night finals. You will need to bring your instruments plus back line equipment.
    • All winners will be decided by applause-o-meter!
    • Various ongoing entertainment on the night will include world renowned DJs JS and Fever, your very own Milk and Honey plus a bonus set from the one and only MC Spyda! 
    • Test your gaming ability and pit your skills against your peers by taking part in Speed Runs on a selection of games throughout the night.
    • To account for the late night on Monday, sessions on Tuesday 15 th December will start 11:00am.

    • Keep an eye out for this poster promoting and celebrating the diversity of Confetti’s talented staff and students!

    • Watch and listen!
    • When browsing through the great book stock in the Confetti library, you may have noticed that we also have a number of magazines, CDs and DVDs available for loan.
    • To help you make the best use of this facility, the Confetti LRC now has a listening/viewing station for your use so that you can take advantage of the CD and DVD stock in the Confetti Library.
    • See the member of staff on duty for support in making use of this excellent resource.
    • Please be considerate to others when using the computers in the LRC as it is a quiet space for academic work.

    • Student Cards and Day Passes
    • At enrolment you were all issued with a new Confetti card, lanyard and holder – you are required to be wearing this visibly at all times whilst on site.
    • Your card is your responsibility; lost or stolen cards can be replaced at EST, but you will need to pay for this service.
    • If you forget your card, reception will issue you with a day pass.  This pass must be worn at all times and handed in to reception on leaving the building.  If you fail to return these passes action will be taken.

    • FJ8/DS8/CS9 Key Skills Exams
    • Please be reminded of these important dates coming up.

    • AON 2 1:30pm-2:45pm

    • Friday 4 th December CS9 & DS8
    • ICT2 9:30am -10:30am and 10:30am-11:30am
    • Confetti S020- arrive 15 mins early with photo ID
    • Achievement of these exams, along with you completed portfolios will ensure your progression on to Level 3 courses and Higher Education.
    • Be sure to continue to prepare using the online practice exams ( www.keyskills4u.com and www.move-on.org ) and check with your Skills tutor if you have any questions as you will be charged £10 if you miss your exam.
    • The Functional Skills Level 2 English exam is also coming up on Monday 7 th December- Good luck!
  • 7. UCAS APPLICATIONS   Thinking of applying to University? If so, it is time to start your application using the online application service at:- www.ucas.ac.uk/students/apply/ Confetti has set an internal deadline of 1 st December to send in completed applications. This will give us time to help you make any corrections and for us to write and attach your reference. If your application is not in before this date we can not guarantee it will be sent before the UCAS deadline . To register through the college and receive support with your application please use the buzzword progression10 . See Lizzie in EST for help and advice

    • To raise awareness of prostate cancer, Confetti gaming students are growing moustaches this month. This is now affecting young men as well as the oldies, so get involved, grow a moustache and help to raise awareness of the importance of regular checks!

    • Labour Thanksgiving Day, a national holiday in Japan and originally a harvest festival.
    • Tuesday 24 November
    • Sikh Martyrdom of Guru Tegh Bahadur (Nanakshahi calendar)
    • Guru Tegh Bahadur was the ninth Sikh Guru and is honoured as a champion of religious freedom. He was executed in 1675 for refusing to convert to Islam.
    • Thursday 26 November
    • Bahai Day of the Covenant
    • This minor festival celebrates the covenant of Baha'u'llah. Baha'is also mark the life of 'Abdu'l-Bahá on this day.
    • Saturday 28 November
    • Bahai Ascension of Abdu'l-Baha
    • Marks the death of the son of Baha'u'lláh. This is a minor holy day and work is not suspended.
    • Muslim Eid-Ul-Adha
    • Festival of Sacrifice marking the day after Arafat. The Day of Arafat is the most important day in the Hajj ritual. This is a four day holiday
    • Sunday 29 November
    • Christian Advent Sunday
    • The beginning of the ecclesiastical year on the Sunday closest to November 30. Advent is the season before Christmas - In Western Christendom, four Sundays are included. In Eastern Christendom, the season is longer and begins in the middle of November
