2. 2. The Questions to answer in our evaluation

In what ways does your horror film opening use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real horror film opening?

How does your horror film opening represent particular social groups?

What kind of media institution might distribute your horror film opening and why?

Who would be the audience for your horror film opening?

How did you attract/address your audience?

What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing your horror film opening?

Looking back at you preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full horror film opening?

 3. 3. In what ways does your horror film opening use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real horror film opening?

In our horror film opening ‘7734’ we used a lot of typical horror film conventions

such as death in the first five minutes. We chose to do this as we thought that it

would make people want to watch it until the end to find out what happened.

We had shots like the panning shot and extreme close-ups. We also

challenged one particular horror film convention by having most of our opening

in the day time whilst usually horror films are filmed at night. We used breathing

noises and hand help shots at appropriate times to make the audience think

that the killer was watching them. On top of that we solarized small sections of

clips to give the illusion of flashing. With those clips we used the sound of

electricity surge to accompany the solarized flash. Another convention we used

was that we chose not to show the killer as we thought it would keep the viewer

hooked to find out who it is and how they did it.

 4. 4. How does your horror film opening represent particular social groups?

In our horror film opening we represent the typical social groups as it is

featuring teenagers and normal things that teens would do like go on camping

trips with friends. We portrayed the teen characters with mostly costume. We

dressed them in innocent looking clothes so that they are portrayed as pretty

and naïve girls. We also represented the killer as mysterious by not revealing

there identity. Like no one knows if the killer is a human or a spirit.

 5. 5. What kind of media institution might distribute your horror film opening and why?

The media distribution company that we think would distribute or horror film

opening is Darclight . Darclight is a distribution company that distributes a

variety of genres from thriller and action to science fiction and Horror.

We choose this distribution company because they distribute films from similar

genres to our 2 minute horror film opening.

 6. 6. Who would be the audience for your horror film opening?

The audience we picked for our horror film opening is teenagers between the

ages of 15-18.We choose to aim our horror film opening to teenagers because

we find that the horror genre is very popular with teenagers nowadays.

We also decided to give this horror film opening a certificate of 15.This is

because the age of the actresses in it are 15. Also because this will give us a

wide age range.

 7. 7. How did you attract/address your audience?

In our horror opening we address our audience of teenagers by having

our main characters played by 16 year old teens. We attracted our

audience by having scenes that are calm and straight after we have

fast scenes with sound effects. The calm scenes build tension for the

struggling scenes straight after.

 8. 8. What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing you horror film opening ?

In the process of making our 2 minute horror film opening we have learnt how

to use various pieces of technology. We have learnt how to use Final Cut

Express, Live Type, Garage Band, SlideShare and Blogger. WE also learnt

how to use various different pieces of equipment in the process of filming our

horror film opening such as tripods, dollies, cameras and the Apple Macs.

All of these pieces of technology and equipment helped me to create my 2

minute horror film opening.

 9. 9. Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full horror film opening?

We have learnt many things in the progress from our preliminary task to our full

2 minute horror film opening. We have learnt how to import videos into Final

Cut Express from iMovie, we have also learnt how to edit our footage together

properly and better than when we did our preliminary task.

On top of that we have also learnt how to add music, sounds and titles to our

edited footage.

Using all of these skills that we learnt, we produced a 2 minute horror film

opening.
