Distance Learning @ GRCC <ul><li>What is Distance Learning? </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Online: A course facilitated entirely online (in Blackboard) with few (if any) on campus meetings. </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Hybrid: An online course with scheduled on campus instructional time not to exceed 50%. </li></ul></ul><ul><li>Current Status </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Number of instructors certified = 160+ </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Number of sections offered = 140+ (3000+ students) </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>GRCC is 7 th in total enrollment (2359) and 8 th in the number of courses offered online (116) based on MCCVLC Fall 2009 data. </li></ul></ul><ul><li>President’s Goal of 25% </li></ul><ul><ul><li>August 27, 2009 Learning Day Announcement </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>2009 Enrollment Data = 5.6% </li></ul></ul>
    4. 4. Distance Learning CAP Description <ul><li>Increase the College’s online teaching presence so that 25% of courses offered exist in an online or hybrid modality. This growth should take place over the next 3-5 years and include a comprehensive assessment of current resources, teaching practices, capacity, training needs, and other infrastructural components necessary to fully support accomplishment of the CAP. </li></ul>

Strategic Connections <ul><li>Goal #1 Grand Rapids Community College students will become successful learners and responsible community members. </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Objective 1.1 Academic Challenge. Students will undertake CHALLENGING intellectual and CREATIVE LEARNING ACTIVITIES that lead to the achievement of general learner and program-specific curricular outcomes. </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Objective 1.2 ACTIVE and COLLABORATIVE Learning.
