    • The global positioning system consists of three different segments: a space segment, a control segment (control center), and a user segment (GPS receivers)
  • 3. Brief description of technology
    • Space segment consists of 24 satellites
    • Accurate positioning of GPS obtained through triangulation
    • Exact timing achieved with use of atomic clock
24 satellites orbiting Earth 12,000 miles above us Portrayal of triangulation, with the receiver (circle on earth) locked on to the signal of three satellites
  • 4. Pros
    • Provides turn-by-turn directions
    • Beneficial to many different industries
  • 5. Pros continued:
    • Help locate people
      • 911 emergencies
      • Digital Angel
      • Wherify Wireless
      • Enforce order of protections
    Wherify’s GPS Personal Locator
  • 6. Is being findable always a good thing?
    • Blocked signal
    • Not always accurate
    • Enables high-tech stalking
