  2. 2. Benefits of technology in the classroom<br />Teachers who use technology in the classroom show greater student benefits.<br />

Benefits of technology…<br />Students are gain technological skills that can be used throughout school and in the workplace.<br />As students go through their elementary, middle, and high school years, the use of technology becomes more demanding.<br />Early development of technology gives students the adequate skills for most workplaces.<br />
  4. 4. Benefits of technology…<br />Students are more engaged when technology is incorporated with traditional teaching.<br />Students enjoy lessons when technology is integrated into traditional lessons.<br />
  5. 5. Benefits of technology…<br />Students learn social skills.<br />Students learn communication skills by using word processing, e-mail, messaging, blogging, etc. and the proper etiquette for these types of communication.<br />
  6. 6. Benefits of technology…<br />Students organizational skills increase.<br />Databases and spread sheet programs can teach students how to organize and use their information.<br />
  7. 7. What not to do with technology in the classroom<br />Create an over-reliance on technology to find solutions. <br />Model finding solutions using both technology and by traditional problem solving.<br />
  8. 8. Do not…<br />Use technology to teach, rather use as an aid for teaching.<br />Use a educational video to enhance your lesson not as your lesson.<br />
  9. 9. What not to do…<br />Not using the technology, if it’s there, make time to learn how to use it, and slowly work yourself into using it.<br />Don’t let yourself be afraid to use the technology. If unused, it serves no purpose to the students. <br />If you are unsure how to use the technology, ask your tech at your school, ask a team member, or set aside some time to explore the technology.<br />
