MENTAL HEALTH4  Is the balance between all aspect of life:  Social  Physical  Spiritual and  Emotional  Has to do with many aspect of our lives including:  How we feel about ourselves  How we feel about others  How we are able to meet the demand of life It’s a integral part of our overall life. WHO defines: A state of well-being in which the individual realizes his/her own abilities, can cop with the normal stresses of life, can work productively and fruitfully, and is able to make a contribution to his/her community.

CONTRADICTION OF PSYCHOTHERAPY  Psychotic patient with severe behavior disturbance like excitement.  •Organic psychosis (in acute phase)  •Patient’s who are unmotivated & unwilling to accept it.  •Group psychotherapy in hysteria, hypochondriasis etc.  •Patient’s who are unlikely to respond, eg; personality disorder , specially antisocial personality. 19

UNWANTED EFFECTS OF PSYCHOTHERAPY  Patient may become excessively dependent on therapy or therapist.  •Intensive psychotherapy may be distressing to the patient & result in exacerbation of symptoms & deterioration in relationship.  •Disorder s for which physical treatment would be more appropriate may be missed  •Ineffective psychotherapy waste time & money & changes in patient’s morale. 20
