        • ARSON – 45 Media Calls (Jan – Sept 2007)
        • 1,438,766 “impressions” (TV/Print)
    5. ARSON IN THE NEWS
      • SC Arson Statistics: Arson is down slightly so far this year.
      • SLED’s Arson Team reported the following for activity through 9/30/07:
      • 160 Arson Cases Received
      • ( 135 cases by this time – 2006 - 149 cases by this time in 2005)
      • Approx. 20% of the 2007 Arson cases have been cleared by arrest
      • $ 2,385,600 in property loss has been investigated so far this year  
      • Darlington ( 14 ) & Oconee ( 13 ) counties have the highest number of requests to SLED with Cherokee County not far behind with ( 12 ) requests. The majority of the requests are for residences and businesses. 
      • Over 1,700 calls have been received so far this year by the SC Arson Hotline. During 2006 there were over 2,000 calls.

      • Educate consumers by sharing information.
      • We need videos from you so that we may better serve you and the media. We vow to edit accordingly and appropriately with your approval and consent.

      • SC Insurance Fraud Hotline promotion
        • Overview of strategy and timing
        • 10 th Anniversary of Insurance Fraud Hotline (6/24/07)
        • Overview of response targets, goals, and current barriers to getting the word out (SCINS continues to offer assistance to Attorney General’s Office in publicizing their prosecution of insurance fraud cases).
      • Joint industry publicity events
        • Co-marketing arrangements with insurance companies/ national trade associations/SCIFI/SC Insurance News Service (such as the vehicle burn in N. Charleston)
      • Partnerships with state agencies
        • Panel discussion ‘round table’ with teenagers regarding insurance fraud prevention (SC Consumer Affairs)
        • Attorney General’s IFD, SLED, etc.
