Highlights• The growth rate for equipment spending (including discretes) for 2011 declined to about 18% to $39.2B (was 23% or $41B in the August edition), which is still the highest on record.• Expect a decline of almost 12% in equipment spending in 2012. Samsung is expected to increase their investment in 2012, which is the main reason for the "slower" decline in equipment spending.• Expected growth in worldwide installed capacity is about 7% in 2011 to 15.2M wafers/month (in 200mm equivalent) (was also 7% in the August report)• In 2012, worldwide installed capacity is expected to slow a bit and will increase by about 6% (was 7% in the August 2011 edition).• Spending for fab construction projects (including discretes) is expected to increase in 2011 by about 16% to $6B (was 7% as reported in the August 2011 edition).• Seven new facilities are currently expected to begin construction in 2012 with 3 for Memory, 3 for Discrete, and 1 for Analog.
