  • 1. Welcome to the Sequoyah High School Media Center!
  • 2. We’re here to help! Mrs. Reed and Mrs. Franchini
  • 3. The SHS Media Center opens at 8:00 each day and closes at 4:00.
  • 4.
    • Students must have a legitimate assignment to work on while in the media center.
    • Computer Use for School-based assignments
    • Academic Research
    • School-based assignments
    • Quiet Reading
  • 5. Unless you are visiting with a class or coming over to check out a book during lunch, students must have a pass to visit the library. 1. Teacher written pass in agenda 2. Lunch Pass
  • 6. Students who come to the media center must have a pass in their agenda .
    • The pass must include
    • the teacher’s signature
    • the time
    • the destination
  • 7. Lunch Passes
    • Lunch passes are available all morning in the media center. You must have your agenda to get a lunch pass.
    • Passes are limited depending on the number of classes signed up to be in the media center on that day.
  • 8. “ Sign In” and “Sign Out” on the computer at the front desk! All you need to know is your student ID # and all you have to do is and then ENTER and the program will record your time. You will simply type in you number again upon leaving the Media Center!
  • 9. Media Center Rules
    • Respect the rights of others to work effectively.
    • Do not bring food or drink into the media center.
    • Use appropriate language only.
    • Show care when using all library resources.
    • Follow all school rules in our media center classrooms as well—dress code, phones, electronics, etc.
  • 10. Checkout Procedure
    • You may to show some type of picture ID or a if your picture is not in our circulation system.
  • 11. All books must be checked out at the circulation desk. You may check out only 2 books on a particular topic and only 3 books total . Students may not check out books for other students. Any book checked out in your name is your responsibility.
  • 12. Magazines and newspapers must stay in the media center. Audio-visual materials, such as videos, are only checked out to teachers.
  • 13. You will be notified in your first period class if you have an overdue book or fine. Overdue books are 15 cents/day. Reference/Overnight books are $1.00/day if turned in late.
  • 14. Students with overdue books or fines cannot check out any other materials.
  • 15. Printing
    • You can print up to 5 pages of B/W print per period. It will be 10 cents per copy for each sheet over.
    • Color prints can be made only with the 2 back computers for 25 cents per page.
  • 16. As stated in the CCSD Acceptable Use Policy . . .
    • The computers are for educational purposes only.
    • EMAIL is blocked. See a media specialist if you have an academic reason for accessing your email account.
    • NO downloading or streaming music, videos, or games!
    • NO chat rooms or instant messaging!
    • NO viewing of inappropriate content!
    • NO electronic shopping or bidding!
  • 17. Logging into a Computer
    • Username: last name and ID number (smith12345)
    • First-time Password: shs
    • New Password: Something you will remember !
    • Note: We cannot tell you what your password is if you forget—we can only request that it be reset back to a first-time password.
