Techila introduction in IOP Big Data Conference: New Services and Business Models, Munich Germany 22 October 2013. http://iop.eventday.com/
Techila is a middleware solution, which gives standard and self-developed applications hundreds-folds speed-up, on demand. If you don’t want to change anything in your existing IT, it is possible to deploy this solution even without changes to the existing infrastructure.
We at Techila think that founding a company should always be based on solving a genuine customer problem. When we founded the company in 2006 we noticed that research and decision-making in modern business rely heavily on computing. This can be a bank’s internal risk management, product data analytics, modeling an oil reservoir, or optimization of an engine design.
Not everyone in these roles is an expert in computer systems. We wanted to make high-performance computing so simple that anyone can benefit of it and can innovate.
Techila is a computing solution, which responds to the needs of research and innovation, Techila enables deployment of massive-scale, secure HPC systems in minutes, at a fraction of the TCO compared to traditional solutions, with minimal human intervention.
When using Techila, the user does not need to learn new tools. He can continue using his MATLAB, ANSYS or whatever is most convenient for him.
In this presentation I showed a demo, where I used 500 CPU cores from Windows Azure Cloud Platform. Because the entire computing environment was in the cloud, my IT manager had not had to touch the existing IT environment at all.
Because Techila is an autonomic computing solution, when I hit the Run button, Techila configured the computers in Azure automatically. Again, I didn't need to bother my IT person or hire expensive consultants to do the work. If I would have wanted to compute in-house I can move my algorithms to my on-premise platform without recoding. Techila can also support in-house and hybrid computing scenarios.
The value of the speed-up of 500x acceleration in this case was saving more than 2,5 hours of the Expert's time only at a total cost of only 30 EUR.
