How To Create a Squeeze or Lead Capture Page
Essentially, a squeeze or lead capture page is basically one and the same thing. They are websites that contain a form from an autoresponder, designed for the purpose of getting people on your email mailing list.
To make sure you have created a good squeeze page, you should include the following points:
Headline: Your squeeze page should have an eye-catching headline that successfully grabs the attention of your visitors and encourages them to read the rest of your page. Good headlines may take some practice but it's definitely a skill worth learning.
Graphics: Stand-out graphics are another weapon to be used, and at times they do better at scoring attention than the headlines. Come up with a bold and attractive graphic which is going to help your page stand out in the crowd. There are websites you can visit to get just the type of photography you are looking for your website.
Call To Action: Once you have gained the attention of your readers, you need to tell them what to do next. Ask them to fill out the form to get a copy of your report, it may sound simple but it is a necessary and you have to make sure it is done properly.
Opt-In Form: You get a script code from your autoresponder to make the sign up form appear on the squeeze page. You simply have to copy and paste the code into the page where you want to the form to appear.
Privacy Statement: You will also be reassuring people that their email address will not be abused once they have filled out the form. This step is absolutely necessary but also helps in a higher sign up rate.
Once you have gone through the steps listed above, you will know the requirements that go into the building of a squeeze page. If you have any experience in creating simple web pages, then you'll have no problem.
Your next challenge is to keep your subscribers happy. Once they opt-in to your list, they will expect something in return, and often. My advice is to give away lots and lots of useful information regarding your niche, and then once in a while, it's OK to offer to sell them something. Just don't try selling in every email... or you list will disappear!
In case you're not comfortable with creating a web page on your own from scratch, you could consider hiring a web designer to do it for you. This way you'll still be able to effectively create a professional looking squeeze page for yourself. However, if you are planning on making more than one page for yourself, perhaps several, hiring someone else to do it for you might become a little expensive.
