  3. 3. Objetivos <ul><li>Be able to understand and interpret news on television. </li></ul><ul><li>Summarize information given by the news reader. </li></ul><ul><li>Be able to re-tell a news item as news readers. </li></ul>
  4. 4. Contenidos <ul><li>Listening skills. </li></ul><ul><li>Communicative skills. </li></ul><ul><li>Socio cultural aspects. </li></ul><ul><li>Language awareness. </li></ul>
  5. 5. Recursos <ul><li>http :// news.bbc.co.uk /2/ hi / video_and_audio / news_summary /8070822. stm </li></ul><ul><li>For this activity we will use the One Minute World News offered by the BBC in the website mentioned above. </li></ul>
  6. 6. Actividades <ul><li>SESSION 1 </li></ul><ul><li>Pre viewing (10 minutes) </li></ul><ul><li>Students come up with recent news. I will write down the headlines they mention on the board. </li></ul><ul><li>I will provide headlines from the newspapers that will correspond to the TV news to help prompt ideas of the news items students are going to watch afterwards. </li></ul>
  7. 7. Actividades <ul><li>Viewing – Headlines (20 minutes) </li></ul><ul><li>I will play the One Minute BBC News headlines without the sound. </li></ul><ul><li>Pair work – Students discuss the stories in the headlines and predict vocabulary. </li></ul><ul><li>Feedback. </li></ul>
  8. 8. Actividades <ul><li>We will watch it with sound and check the predictions the students made. They will share their predictions with the rest of the class and I will make sure they understood the each news clearly, in order to achieve this we will play the news again and pause after each news item for comprehension/questions/new vocabulary. (20 minutes) </li></ul>
  9. 9. Evaluación <ul><li>The techniques I will use will be direct and indirect observation. In order to decide the degree of achievement of the objectives I will follow the following criteria: </li></ul><ul><li>Ability to understand and interpret information from a news reader on television in a limited time. </li></ul><ul><li>Ability to communicate ideas related to the chosen news items. </li></ul><ul><li>Accuracy in the use of the new vocabulary. </li></ul>
