    • Search engines are the tools for finding out information on the internet.
    • Yahoo – http:// www.yahoo.com
    • MSN – http:// www.search.msn.com
    • Google – http:// www.google.com
    • Altavista – http:// www.altavista.com

    • Using the Online Dictionary
    • Sometimes a search does not yield the results you expect because the text you typed was not really what you intended. The online dictionary is a convenient way to check your search words. If you are not sure how to spell a word, the dictionary can also offer ideas based on the sound or origins of the word.
    • Objective: Look up a word in the online dictionary
    • Follow these steps to look up a word in the online dictionary.
    • Select Search on the menu bar.
    • Select Dictionary from the Search submenu to display the dictionary search bar.
    • Type a word in the Search dictionary for box, and click Go .
    • The definition area of the page displays the word and definition.
    • To read the definitions for other entries and suggestions, select a word in the Entries list.
    • The definition area of the page displays the definition for the selected word.
    • To exit the dictionary, select another menu or submenu option.
