    • Elizabeth Kelly Workshop 1 Activity – Concerns and Experiences
    • Biography
      • Currently completing postgraduate in secondary education
        • Major teaching area: Home Economics
        • Minor teaching area: Science
      • Completed Bachelor of Science (Health Promotion) in 2002
    • Concerns with using computers in the Classroom
      • Have basic skills, that have sufficed at work and university, but am not comfortable completing more high-tech activities such as creating web pages, editing graphics and trouble-shooting when technology fails.
      • Being able to answer students questions about the technology being used
      • Ensuring that students stay on task, do not breach any school based computer rules and do no cause damage to the equipment
      • Maximising the potential of technology
      • Ensuring I use the technology to improve student learning, rather than a time waster.
    • Positive or Negative Experiences
      • On prac in an advanced science class students used technology to investigate the properties of soundwaves. This worked really well and help students understand the new concept.
      • At work we often use projectors connected to laptops for presentations. I have found that this technology is unreliable.
    • Confidence in creating experiences
      • At the moment I am hesitant to use computers in classrooms, because I worry about the reliability of the equipment.
      • Whilst I can use programs I am familiar with a work, I haven’t had much experience in developing web resources so would tend to use things already developed.
      • Would find using the web for student investigations easy and am confident in doing this.
