Concerns with using computers in the Classroom
Have basic skills, that have sufficed at work and university, but am not comfortable completing more high-tech activities such as creating web pages, editing graphics and trouble-shooting when technology fails.
Being able to answer students questions about the technology being used
Ensuring that students stay on task, do not breach any school based computer rules and do no cause damage to the equipment
Maximising the potential of technology
Ensuring I use the technology to improve student learning, rather than a time waster.
Positive or Negative Experiences
On prac in an advanced science class students used technology to investigate the properties of soundwaves. This worked really well and help students understand the new concept.
At work we often use projectors connected to laptops for presentations. I have found that this technology is unreliable.
Confidence in creating experiences
At the moment I am hesitant to use computers in classrooms, because I worry about the reliability of the equipment.
Whilst I can use programs I am familiar with a work, I haven’t had much experience in developing web resources so would tend to use things already developed.
Would find using the web for student investigations easy and am confident in doing this.
