Introductions
Who are you?
Where are you coming from?
Where do you hope to go?
Essential Questions
How does one embed all the ideas encountered at EduCon 2.1 into
their school's actual curriculum? In other words, how do the ideas of
21st century education become reality across the school?
How does a school identify and share best 21st century education
practice?
What is the appropriate progression of 21st century skills in a K-12
curriculum?
How is technology making curriculum mapping a dynamic part of 21st
century curriculum enrichment?
Why is curriculum mapping now
more important than ever before?
A changing world demands new skills, resources, and methods of
assessment. Mapping helps us focus on these entities.
Massive change is overwhelming. Mapping keeps the focus on the
student, one unit at a time.
Teachers are a blend of digital “natives” and “immigrants”. Mapping
provides a common language.
“Old” ideas in education are still warranted. Mapping is a bridge.
Our strength is in our collective intelligence. Web-based mapping
facilitates the easy sharing of curricular ideas.
Plan of action
Observe and reflect on a “21st century” unit map. Briefly discuss
the basic structure of a curriculum unit map.
Observe and reflect on a “20th century” unit map. Share ways of
improving/adding 21st century skills, assessments, and resources.
Map one personal unit on the wiki, then add new 21st century
skills, assessments, and/or resources.
Brainstorm key 21st century skills, assessments, and resources.
Share final thoughts and questions.
Continue the conversation on the wiki.
